Shelly Brown , Broker

Being a native Oregonian and lifelong resident of Portland, I strive to bring invaluable community knowledge as well as professional guidance to my real estate clients. After graduating from Sunset High School, I enrolled at the University of Oregon. My focus was on Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising. It was there that I met my husband, now of 27 years, Greg. Upon graduation, my business career began in the computer industry and technical writing. This profession allowed me to combine my ability to work with end users and programmers alike. Understanding the complexities of database design, I worked with businesses to assess their custom software needs and in turn communicate that to the developer who built the program to make it happen. I documented their systems, as well as worked freelance, writing third party manuals for a large publishing company. In 1994, two (twins!) of our four boys were born. My focus shifted to being at home with them and seeing how I could contribute to the schools and organizations in the community through volunteering. From being actively involved in the local schools, my church and civic groups, to launching Brokers for Basics, a clothes drive to benefit families in need, community is very important to me. Planning numerous fundraisers, serving various positions including PTO President, community and athletic organization Board positions, as well as working with the Junior League of Portland and Washington County Commission for Children and Families on issues and initiatives impacting women and children. In 2007, with our youngest now in school, an opportunity presented itself to combine my desire to serve people with one of my longtime interests, real estate. I jumped at the chance and have never looked back. I have found that the aspect I enjoy most about real estate is the lasting relationships I foster and the ability to help my clients move, literally and figuratively, to the next stage of their lives. This is by far the biggest reward. In the last decade I have worked with individuals and families moving up, downsizing, moving to or from Portland for employment, to be near family, or simply for quality of life. I have extensive experience in new construction and understand how to guide buyers through the local builder process, whether that be custom or navigating national builder communities. More than anything, my goal is, and will always be, to help my clients move to that next phase of their lives with the REPRESENTATION and SERVICE that far EXCEEDS their EXPECTATIONS. When I'm not working, I enjoy keeping up with the latest Best Sellers and the ladies in my Book Club, playing an occasional round of golf with my husband and boys, and trekking through our beautiful Forest Park trails. I continue to strive to find ways to help the people and organizations I am involved with best achieve their objectives. Currently it is honor to mentor students at Sunset High School as they work through their post high school plans. For some, this is entering the work force, while others are navigating the college admission process. Regardless, working with these students each week on their individualized pursuit is time I cherish. Thank you for your consideration of my services. If you or someone you know have any questions about real estate, the process of searching for a home or listing your home for sale, I would love to help.
